Driving Answers: These are the 7 most disappointing cars we drove in 2021

Sure, it has a practical hatch and the seats are soft, but, goodness, life has to be worth more than this, right? To elect to spending some of our precious time on Earth in that car? Love yourself more. My time with the Corolla Cross is a week I can just never get back.

Elliot Alder

I went to town on the GMC Sierra Denali a few weeks back, calling it a work truck for people who watch other people work. And after experiencing some excellent premium half-ton trucks from Ram (and even Ford), the insincerity of the Denali was almost laughable.

This was an $83,000-plus truck that sells on a big grille and luxury pretensions, but without any of the follow-through. GM must have a pretty insulting estimation of its shoppers to try to peddle a ‘luxury’ experience trimmed in Fisher-Price plastics for that sort of money, and a tow rating just three-quarters that of its peers sprinkles salt in the wound. It’s simply offensive.

In apparent recognition of its product’s inadequacy, GM has already announced a replacement for 2022. I’m crossing my fingers in hopes that it’s sorted this out, but time will tell. In the meantime, my recommendation for a luxury half-ton that actually feels nice stays with the Ram Longhorn.
