Electric heat

First, there’s a difference between a purpose-made heat gun and a home hair dryer. Heat guns let you direct the warmth to just where it’s needed, but be warned: there are lots of meltable materials near window glass, so proceed with caution. Lower the window enough to let you start at a corner and as you start to peel the film off, direct the air flow at the contact point with the glass and work slowly back and forth as you keep pressure on the film. Keep a towel nearby to wipe away any glue residue as you go to make the final clean-up a little easier.

Steam heat

This is definitely safer on plastics and rubber than a hot-air heat-gun but can be painful on bare skin, so some heavier rubber cleaning gloves aren’t a bad idea. Start by steaming the entire inside surface for a minute or so with a household steam wand to loosen the glue, and then start peeling back one corner as with a heat-gun. But instead of directing the heat at the contact point, direct it to the inside surface as you work the film off. Again, keep a towel handy to wipe away the residue.
